"Student life is a unique lifestyle where you can have brunch on a Tuesday, and while I will definitely miss that flexibility, I am really looking forward to the opportunities that full-time work brings - not least the increased disposable income"

We got to be part of the ceremonial transformation from being between student life and the hustle and bustle of working life, to re-entering the workforce full-time.

Over coffee in the sun, we sat down with Naja to talk about the transition from student life and the new era she's entering.

about naja

Naja is 25 years old and originally from West Zealand, but now lives in Islands Brygge with her boyfriend. She always knew she wanted to move to Copenhagen to study and be in an environment where there were opportunities to unfold her arms and explore new horizons. This drive was particularly fueled by her early interest in socio-economics and political dynamics, which was already awakened in elementary school. This fascination began to germinate early and has since shaped Naja’s academic journey to Copenhagen Business School and her professional identity.

The ultimate defense

The thesis is finished, no more studying, no more reading and no more exams. June 25th was a goodbye to student life and all the opportunities and challenges that come with it. Naja can now call herself a Master of Business Administration after 18 years at school, with 6 months on exchange and five years at Copenhagen Business School.

From student life to working life

When we ask Naja the obligatory question about what she is looking forward to most about leaving her studies, she answers promptly:

“I’m looking forward to enjoying a stress-free Christmas and a summer without exams, and getting rid of the never-ending guilty conscience that always lurks under the surface,” adding “I’m looking forward to being able to invest myself fully in one thing and not constantly navigate between what is the ‘right priority'”

She explains that she is looking forward to the new challenges that full-time work brings and is looking forward to taking on more responsibility. At the same time, she’s looking forward to spending even more time in the office and participating in the social community at aety, which she believes offers a very special sense of unity.

But Naja doesn’t hide the positive aspects of student life either.

“Student life is a unique lifestyle where you can have brunch on a Tuesday and while I will definitely miss that flexibility, I’m really looking forward to the opportunities that full-time work brings – not least the increased disposable income” she adds with a smile.

with high ceilings

When asked to put into words some of the things that play an important role in her work life, Naja explains that she enjoys being in a company with a high ceiling.

“It’s great to be able to suggest things without seeing them drown in bureaucracy,” says Naja, citing this as one of the main reasons she accepted a full-time position as IT Contract Manager at aety.

Naja goes on to explain how it means a lot to her to be in a place that recognizes and appreciates good work, while providing opportunities to grow “I feel it is a great recognition of my work that I was offered a full-time position and at the same time have a say in shaping my role and can use the knowledge I have acquired in my studies”.

Naja adds that she finds inspiration in a work environment where colleagues share their knowledge, are embracing and skilled, which is also why the journey into full-time life started at aety.

“I am reminded again and again of how sharp minds we have in our organization who are truly passionate about doing their best. I can only see these people as role models for how I want to be as an employee and colleague,” she concludes with a smile.
