Confluence 7 has finally been released, and at first glance it doesn’t seem to introduce any major changes.
However, we must not be fooled.
First and foremost, Atlassian has invested in renewing and improving the codebase, just like the Jira platform. In the future, this will mean improved performance and a platform that can be easily expanded with new features.
Secondly, a few new features have also crept in, one of which is “Plan your upgrade“: The tool analyzes your instance and creates a tailored upgrade plan for it. This means that it will require less preparation time to complete an upgrade than before.
If you are using Confluence version 6.5 or higher, you can already make use of the feature to upgrade to Confluence 7.X.
Simply upgrade theTroubleshooting and Support Toolsapp to the latest version.

A third thing worth mentioning is the automatic cleanup of Synchrony data that has previously filled the database. This means that data that is no longer relevant is automatically deleted. Synchrony is the engine behind Collaborative editing in Confluence, and every time someone inserts a letter or character into a page, Synchrony keeps a record of it.
We’re sure we can expect great things from Confluence 7 in the future.

The third thing worth mentioning is the automatic clean-up of Synchrony data, which earlier played a crucial part in creating redundant data in the database. This means that data that is no longer relevant automatically will be deleted. Synchrony is the main engine behind Collaborative editing in Confluence, and every time someone added a letter or a sign onto a Confluence page, Synchrony had already saved a record of it.
We are certain, that we can expect tremendous things from Confluence 7 in the future.
