We’ve traveled to one of the world’s largest IT conferences, AWS RE:Invent. The conference takes place in Las Vegas, where Amazon Web Services has rented 4 of the largest conference centers to host the event. As we all know, bigger is better 😆.
After a few years of online and virtual events, you have to adjust to seeing so many people at once. In addition to the crowds, Las Vegas is already a place with many distractions, so the impressions are many.
However, we managed to find some peace and quiet in the Certification Lounge, where the entry ticket is an AWS certification:
Highlights
Yesterday it was about the way AWS works with competence development and certifications. Going forward, they will invest in further development of materials, online courses, labs and much more. At the same time, AWS is working to upskill people who come from other jobs (e.g. through the https://aws.amazon.com/training/restart/ program) – their claim is that there will be a shortage of employees for over 2 million IT jobs worldwide in 2022, and as a cloud provider you have to start training people yourself.
Another exciting topic was about how to work in a structured way with best practice in the form of architecture blueprints, “Well-Architected Framework” and AWS Solutions, which can be adapted and expanded to suit the specific user case you as a customer have. In this way, you can get started quickly, while being on safe ground in terms of security, operation, performance, etc.
We look forward to tonight’s Nordic Partner reception – AWS makes a lot out of their partner network, although at the Partner keynote we realized that there is probably a long way to go before we at Aety get to present a customer case. Wells Fargo and Accenture beat us to the finish line…
